Note that the famous Bosphorus (or Turkish bosphorus) between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea, is not the only bosphorus. "Simmeria" or "Cimmeria" may be the etymological origin of the word "Crimea". The Crimean peninsula is also known as the Tauric Chersonese. The Cimmerian Bosphorus (see the red arrow) is also known as the Strait of Kerch, and in Turkish (Crimean Tatar) is also known as Keriç boğazi. There is another bosphorus located between the Kólpos of Patras and the Kólpos of Corinth, called the "Little Dardanelles".
